Weekly jobless claims reach nearly two-year high

The number of applications for unemployment benefits rose to 230,000 for the week ending April 20, according to the Labor Department. The number of claims, which rose 37,000 for the week, was the highest level since late 2017. It ended a five-week stretch during which jobless claims had fallen.
