Walmart is ‘seriously considering’ Asda IPO

Walmart is thinking about pursuing an initial public offering for its UK-based Asda grocery chain after a deal to merge with Sainsbury’s fell through. Judith McKenna, Walmart International’s CEO, told Asda managers, “While we are not rushing into anything, I want you to know that we are seriously considering a path to an IPO — a public listing — to strengthen your long-term success.”
