Wal-Mart Clarifies RFID Initiative

A letter sent by Sam’s Club to 5,000 suppliers details the specifics of the company’s new radio frequency identification (RFID) technology initiative that would require vendors to pay a surcharge for pallets that are not RFID compliant. Sam’s plans to tag all pallets at its 22 distribution centers by Jan. 30, 2009.
