Union workers authorize strike of supermarkets in Southern California
June 27, 2019
The vote approval yesterday by members of the United Food and Commercial Workers union’s Local 770 chapter doesn’t call for an immediate strike against Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons stores in the Greater Los Angeles area, but gives union officials the ability to do so in order to leverage management into upping wages and benefits. The union’s members have been working without a contract since March.
