Unilever has bought into The Laundress’ vision for cleaning clothes

The Laundress was founded by Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd to create a way to clean the 90 percent of products labeled “dry clean only.” The company’s success led it to be sold by luxury retailers including Net-A-Porter. That caught the attention of Unilever, which acquired The Laundress last year.
