States report teen hospitalizations tied to vaping

Fourteen teenagers and young adults were hospitalized in Illinois and Wisconsin last month due to severe breathing problems linked to vaping. Thomas Haupt, a respiratory disease epidemiologist with Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services, said the patients presented as though they were dealing with an infection, but all tests came back negative. “The only thing at this point is vaping, but we don’t know what they vaped, where they got their vaping liquids, all this needs to be determined at this point,” said Dr. Haupt.
