States hold sales tax holidays to help back-to-school shoppers

Sixteen states put sales tax collection for school supplies and clothing on pause on during July and August. Other states — Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon — do not have a sales tax. Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island do not tax clothing purchases.
