Sears turning real estate into cash to stay afloat

Sears Holdings is forming a real estate investment trust (REIT) with Seritage Growth Properties to acquire about 254 of the company’s stores. It is also creating a separate REIT with General Growth Properties, which will control 30 of its locations.
