Florida Supreme Court Throws Out $145 Billion Cigarette Suit

A record punitive damage award was rejected by Florida’s highest court, relieving cigarette manufacturers of the liability claimed in a class action lawsuit made on behalf of as many as 700,000 Floridian smokers, however the court left open the possibility of individual claims.
