FDA OKs Irradiation of Lettuce and Spinach

The Food and Drug Administration will allow processors to irradiate fresh spinach and iceberg lettuce in an effort to kill E. coli and other contaminants. Irradiated produce will be required to be labeled to let consumers know it has undergone the process.
