World Wide Woman’s Web
By George Anderson
The profile of the online shopper is changing says Chuck Davis, chief executive of BizRate.com.
Mr. Davis told Reuters, “We’re seeing a shift to women and 62 percent of purchases are now by women. As online merchants become more mainstream … it’s the women that
control purse strings.”
As to why women are migrating to online purchases, Mr. Davis says, “About 70 percent of buyers are saying they’re finding better deals online than offline.”
Moderator’s Comment: How will (is) the number of women shopping online changing e-tail?
It’s already happening. Apparel sales (especially for family members) will gain prominence as women migrate online. They may not always shop for themselves
but when you know your kid’s size ordering online is easier than heading for the mall. [George
