Women at the Top

By George Anderson
A new study from the nonprofit research group, Catalyst, says that women remain underrepresented in top jobs in corporate America.
Women hold less than 16 percent of corporate officer positions in fortune 500 companies, says a Reuters report. Prior studies found that women held 12.5 percent of these positions in 2000 and 8.7 percent in 1995.
Sheila Wellington, president, Catalyst sees positives in the latest numbers. “I am heartened to see the progress despite the gloomy economic outlook.”
Based on the growth curve to date, Catalyst expects women to achieve parity in the corporate officer ranks by 2041.
Moderator’s Comment: Why are not more women in top corporate positions
within retail organizations?
Everyone talks about diversity.
Talk is cheap. [George
