Wegmans Samples New Organic Dressing Online

Consumers receiving the Wegmans Natural and Organic News email last week were invited by Amy Vaughan, food editor, to print out a coupon for a free bottle of the grocer’s new Organic Salad Dressings.

Varieties of the new store brand line include Raspberry Balsamic with Black Pepper, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Caesar, Honey Mustard, Italian with Peppers and Sun-Dried Tomato.

Moderator’s Comment: Are grocers, in general, missing
an opportunity to integrate promotion and sampling to drive incremental sales?
What is your reaction to Wegmans free organic salad dressing offer?

Sampling is not done nearly enough and when it is, it
is often done badly. We like to call this the kielbasa on a toothpick syndrome.
