UFCW To Rally on Wall Street

UFCW To Rally on Wall Street

By George Anderson

The United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) has planned a rally for tomorrow on Wall Street to urge investors to rethink their investments in Albertsons, Kroger and Safeway,
reports Reuters.

Ellen Anreder, a UFCW spokesperson said, “We want to educate the people who buy and sell stock from these companies about what they are doing to their employees.”

Sean Harrigan, president of the biggest U.S. public pension fund, Calpers, and Alan Hevesi, New York State Comptroller, are said to be joining the protest in support of the union.

Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on the planned UFCW rally on Wall Street
tomorrow?

A word of advice to the union: Be careful what you wish for. If investors start selling off their stock in large numbers, there may be very little business
to go back to after a settlement is reached.
