The current owner of Dominick’s Finer Foods has been criticized for moving
control of the chain’s fortunes from the local market to its corporate offices
in California.

If the rumors are true, prospective owner Supervalu doesn’t plan on taking
the same approach.

Crain’s Chicago Business quotes a source familiar with the situation
as saying Supervalu plans “to restore purchasing, marketing and other personnel
to the chain’s Oak Brook headquarters.”

“Dominick’s executives have been asking headquarters employees whether they
would be interested in staying on under Supervalu and if they know of former
executives who could be lured back,” the source told Crain’s.

Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on the
purported plans of Supervalu to restore control of Dominick’s to the local headquarters?

Based on this, Jeff Noddle plans on being more flexible
than Steve Burd when it comes to trying to restore Dominick’s to its former
position within the Chicagoland market.
