Private-Label Nicotine Gum Hits Pharmacies Soon

Watson Pharmaceuticals’ Rugby Laboratories will launch a private-label nicotine gum, which it expects to be available in pharmacies within the next few weeks, reports The Wall Street Journal. Watson’s nicotine polocrilex gum is the generic equivalent to GlaxoSmithKline’s Nicorette gum.

Moderator Comment: Two questions:

  1. Should all retailers that sell tobacco products also offer smoking cessation items such as Nicorette gum?

  2. Will private-label smoking cessation products benefit retailers looking to position themselves in the area of whole health more than the branded equivalent?
