P&G Sells Fair Trade Coffee

By George Anderson

Procter & Gamble (a RetailWire sponsor), announced yesterday it would begin selling “fair trade” coffee online and through the mail as part of its Millstone Signature Collection.

According to the Associated Press, P&G’s “Fair trade” coffee will be sold under the Mountain Moonlight brand at a suggested retail of $8.99 for a 10-ounce bag. Regular
Millstone coffees in 10 and 12-ounce sizes typically sell for $6.99 retail.

Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on P&G selling “fair trade” coffee?

Congratulations to P&G for doing the honorable thing. Now let’s hope consumers respond so that this does not become another good intention left on the
shelf by consumer apathy.
