Kmart In Miss. Listens To Its Customers

By George Anderson

Steve Howard, the general manager of a Kmart store in Waveland, Miss. would be the first to tell you the idea to have a farmers market in the store’s parking lot was not his. It was his customers.

The store did a survey of shoppers and found, according to a Sun Herald report, “many liked the idea of having an open-air farmers market.”

The market will run every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the store’s lot and local produce vendors will be allowed to set up stalls free of charge.
