Kids Vegging Out

Eleven percent of girls and five percent of boys 13 to 17 say they do not eat meat.


According to a report on Farmpage.com, “The trend seems to even be moving from adolescence into early adulthood, when experts say the eating habits developed during the college-aged years will likely carry over into adulthood.”

affect purchasing, logistics, merchandising and other aspects of food retailing?


Here’s another quote from the Farmpage.com article. “The
American School Food Service Association (ASFSA) reports that 60 percent of
the nation’s schools offered vegetarian alternatives in 2001, up from 40 percent
in 1999 and the number of schools is expected to grow in the new survey this
year.”
