KB Sets Up Toy Shop in Sears

By George Anderson

KB Toys will be setting up temporary shops within 600 Sears stores from mid-October to early January, reports Reuters.

An agreement between Sears and KB, announced yesterday, expands an existing deal between the two retailers. The KB toy section was first tested in 29 Sears’ stores in 2001 and
then in 77 locations last year.

Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on the Sears/KB Toys deal?

Sears and KB are each looking to become more competitive against the likes of Wal-Mart and Target. Based on the expansion of the arrangement this year from
last, it would appear as though both parties are pleased with the results so far.
