Grand Old Night for GOP

By George Anderson

The road show put on by the Bush White House has paid off with Republican election victories giving the party majority control of the House, the Senate and the Executive for the first time in 50 years.

Moderator’s Comment: What does a Republican majority
in Washington mean for the economy, in general, and the retail industry?

It’s hard to see the economy going anywhere but up from
its present position, so the Republicans have a very good chance at a redux
in 2004.

On the other hand, we can’t help but think, “Be careful
what you wish for. You just might get it.” [George
