Friday’s Look Good for Pathmark Shoppers

By George Anderson

Consumer shopping habits have changed and beginning this week, Pathmark will alter the timing of its sales to reflect that.

The NJ-based chain has announced that it will no longer run sales from Sunday to Saturday but will switch to a Friday to Thursday schedule.

Rich Savner, spokesman, Pathmark said the switch is “really a response to the continuing emphasis by consumers that the peak shopping days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

Mr. Savner told the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger that Pathmark will use the line, “Fridays never looked so good,” to publicize the change. The company will also use more direct mail and fewer Sunday newspaper ads and inserts as a result of its timing change.
