FBI Warns of Terrorist Threat at Supermarkets

The FBI has received unsubstantiated information from a captured al-Qaida official that terrorists could be planning to target U.S. civilians in supermarkets, shopping centers and banks, reports Supermarket News. The bureau reportedly warned its agents and some state and local police to this effect. However, the information did not include threats against specific targets or methods of attack, and was not considered as credible as last week’s warnings about possible attacks on East Coast banks.
