Dr Pepper Jumps on Innovation Band Wagon

Cadbury Schweppes PLC will introduce Red Fusion, a new version of Dr Pepper, in the U.S. by mid-July. The London-based beverage and confectionery company hopes to revive interest in the number-six U.S. soft drink following a decline in its sales, reports The Wall Street Journal. Dr Pepper’s volume fell 1.7 percent last year, and dropped a 0.1 share point, according to Beverage Digest.

Red Fusion is the first line extension in Dr Pepper’s 117-year history. The beverage is a bright red soda that has the taste of Dr Pepper with fruit flavors added. It will be sold in cans and plastic bottles and will be made available for fountain as well.

Moderator Comment: Will Red Fusion be a hit with consumers?

Dr. Pepper is counting on it. Share loss is not to be
taken lightly when you are competing against the likes of Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
