Donut Chain Courts Espresso Love

By George Anderson

Dunkin’ Donuts is rolling out espresso in its stores for a very good reason says its chief executive officer, Jon Luther. Its customers asked for it.

According to an Associated Press report, Dunkin’ Donuts has plans to have espresso machines in most of its New England stores by the end of the month.

Mr. Luther says his chain will bring a new attitude to espresso. “Anybody can drink espresso and we’re showing that you don’t have to wait seven minutes in line to get it. We’ve
removed the mystique around the cappuccino. We don’t have to be pretentious.”

A large cappuccino will sell for about 70 cents less at Dunkin’ Donuts than a venti at Starbucks. [George
