Credit Card Thief Caught, Say NC Authorities

Police in North Carolina have arrested a Maryland man on 10 counts of financial identity fraud, according to The Associated Press.


Authorities claim the man, identified as Benjamin Uzzell, 45, of Accokeek Md., was in possession of 1,700 credit cards with lines of credit valued in excess of $405,000.

Recent reports suggest that the self-checkout technology
adds convenience and speeds consumers through the front-end. It also has provided
a new opportunity for credit card fraud as stores have largely stopped checking
for ID.
