Burger Bellies to Get Bally Treatment

Yum Brands has a couple of wishes to start the New Year.

First: The fast food restaurant chain wants more consumers to eat at its Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, Long John Silver and A&W restaurants.

Next, it wants those same consumers to go to the gym and work out so that it doesn’t get blamed because lovers of its Stuffed Crust Pizza with multiple toppings develop physiques that look unnaturally close to that of a Deluxe Bacon Cheeseburger with everything on it.

To try and make its wishes a reality, Yum Brands has teamed up with Bally Total Fitness to offer free four-week memberships to any of the health club’s 400 facilities to any customer presenting a receipt from the chain’s restaurants.

“As the new year approaches, many people start thinking about getting in shape,” said Marilyn Schorin, chief nutrition and regulatory officer for Yum Brands. “What better way to help them achieve their New Year’s fitness resolution than to offer a free, four-week membership at the nation’s leading fitness company?”
