Blackout Thursday

A major power failure left consumers and businesses from New York to the Midwest in the black yesterday with many still wondering when the lights will come back on.
Wal-Mart closed stores in Canada and New York State while other retail businesses closed early because of the power failure.
According to The Associated Press, “After the sun set Thursday, some stores in Manhattan were allowing one customer at a time inside, selling flashlights and batteries to people carrying cash.”
Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on yesterday’s
blackout and its impact on businesses and consumers? Do you have a blackout
story to tell?
We have to admit feeling relief upon hearing the blackout
was not caused by an act of terrorism. That was quickly followed by the sad
acknowledgment that our lives were changed forever by September 11.
