Big Boxes Looking Up

A lack of retail space in urban areas has big box retailers looking up – to the second floor, that is.
The Hartford Courant reports that Wal-Mart is eschewing its normal one-story layout to open a five-story store at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles.
The world’s biggest retailer has been able to reconfigure thanks to “a 50-year-old machine that best can be described as an escalator for shopping carts”.
