Bashas’ Supplies IGA Stores

The Arizona Republic reports Bashas’ will supply groceries to 32
IGA stores in Arizona and New Mexico. The stores had been receiving supplies
from Fleming.
Bashas’, a 137 store chain, will supply the IGA stores from its 810,000 square
foot distribution center in Chandler, AZ. IGA will be responsible for pickup
and delivery from the Chandler DC.
IGA estimates the 32 stores do $260 million in annual retail sales.
Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on Bashas’
decision to supply 32 IGA stores? Does the deal indicate Bashas’ plans on entering
the wholesale grocery business?
Fleming may soon be gone with its Chapter 11 problems
but Bashas’, demonstrates there are others waiting to pick up the pieces.
