Bally Low-Fat Snacks

By George Anderson

Bally Total Fitness is rolling out a new line of low-fat, low-calorie candy bars targeted at kids and the growing concern over childhood obesity in America, reports Jim Kirk
in his column in the Chicago Tribune.

Bally Snack Right Bites will initially “be available in a variety bag containing four flavors: chocolate mint, oatmeal cookie, yogurt-covered berry and chocolate peanut butter,”
reports Mr. Kirk.

The chief executive of Bally’s, Paul Toback, said Snack Right Bites snacks will be made available for sale outside Bally’s 420 health and fitness clubs.

Moderator’s Comment: What are your thoughts on Bally getting into the healthy snack food business?

The success of Bally’s candy bars will depend on how well the company does in getting distribution for the product. It certainly has a credible and highly
identifiable name for marketing a health related product to parents and their children.
