Apple of VM+SD’s Eye

By George Anderson

Apple Computer was named the winner of the third annual Visual Merchandising and Store Design/Peter Glen award as Retailer of the Year for 2003.

Previous winners of the award Limited Brands in 2002 and Target in 2001.

“The annual award reflects Peter Glen’s values regarding retail in general and retail design specifically,” said VM+SD editor Steve Kaufman. “He believed in retailing that was strategic, service-oriented and aware of customer needs.”

Peter Glen wrote a monthly column for VM+SD magazine until his death in 2001.

Moderator’s Comment: What stores (any channel) do you give high marks for visual merchandising and store design and why?

VM+SD has made a solid choice. Apple has clearly done an excellent job of creating an in-store environment, which is easy on the eyes and comfortable to
shop in.
