7-Eleven Combines Slurp with Gulp

7-Eleven, Inc., will offer its latest beverage container on the eve of its 75th anniversary at up to 5,800 participating stores in the United States and Canada. The 54-ounce partitioned plastic Slurp & GulpTM cup holds both a 22-ounce Slurpee® semi-frozen carbonated beverage in an inside chamber, and a 32-ounce Big Gulp® in a surrounding chamber. A specially designed domed lid has two holes for both a beverage straw and Slurpee spoon-straw. Suggested retail price for the two-in-one Slurp & Gulp beverage is $1.99. Refills are $1.49.

7-Eleven’s will celebrate 75 years in business on July 11 with events across North America and a frosty giveaway. Each participating 7-Eleven store will offer a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee® drink of their choice to the first 1,000 customers that day. Products and packaging reminiscent of items sold in the its early years will be available at participating stores as well. The convenience retailer also will invite 3,000 7-Eleven store franchisees, management team members, suppliers and international licensees to New York City for “Passport to Freedom” educational and celebratory meetings.

Moderator Comment: Will 7-Eleven’s Slurp & Gulp be a hit with consumers?

The Slurp & Gulp seems a bit excessive to us but an informal survey of humans under 13 here indicates that 7-Eleven may be on to something. We also are willing to bet (now that the under 13s know about it) that we’ll be making a stop by the local 7-Eleven on 7/11 to snag a free Slurpee and buy other stuff in the process.
