Dairy farmers are lobbying to restrict non-animal beverages made from almonds, coconut, oats, rice and soy from being labeled as milk. The dairy industry contends the Food and Drug Administration’s lax approach to labeling has led to confusion in the marketplace, while plant-based producers say objections are based solely on competitive tactics and not consumer education.
