Comptroller Asks Safeway to Settle

Steve Westly, the State Controller for California has written a letter to Safeway’s board of directors urging the company to not follow “a lowest common denominator” strategy by forcing its workers to accept a nominal health care plan similar to Wal-Mart’s.
