China to become world’s largest retail market this year

The Chinese economy has slowed heading into 2019, but that will not keep it from becoming the largest retail market in the world by year’s end. Expanding wealth among China’s population is expected to result in $5.6 trillion in retail sales this year, roughly $100 billion more than in the U.S.
