Karen S. Herman has extensive executive level experience in commercial design, planning, project management and strategic marketing for retailers, advertising and marketing firms, corporations, real estate companies, property developers and small business owners. She contributes articles on design and technology to trade publications and enjoys speaking to small and large groups on both topics. She has served on numerous boards, in both chairwoman and committee member roles.
Ms. Herman founded Gustie Creative in 2011 with the goal of providing disruptive retail as a marketing choice for web based and small to medium sized businesses. In late 2011, Ms. Herman received the top woman business award from KC SourceLink for Global Entrepreneurship Week. In 2013, she was selected to participate in the Google Glass Explorers program and is developing design applications for mobile devices. She is currently beta testing Project Tango.
Gustie Creative is Ms. Herman’s second company. She also founded Creative Direct Solutions, Inc. in Stamford, CT in 1995. This company was in business for thirteen years and focused on delivering a tailored design approach that integrated technology with a clear design esthetic, dedicated project management and superior customer service. Clients included Calvin Klein, Inc., New York Athletic Club, The New York Palace Hotel, and The Ledges in Groton, CT.
Prior to starting Creative Direct Solutions, Inc., Ms. Herman worked for ten years in senior interior design and project management positions with architecture firms including Mancini-Duffy Inc. and Gould Evans. Ms. Herman completed studies in interior design at the University of Kansas and was a varsity member of the Women’s Golf team.
