L.L. Bean published an insert in last Friday’s New York Times that appeared to be a mostly blank piece of white paper trimmed in green. The insert included copy that told readers to take the ad outside. When they did, outdoor imagery emerged on the page with copy that read: “Welcome to the outside where there are no strangers, only friends we haven’t met yet.
