Krispy Kreme Rocks Little Rock

By George Anderson

Krispy Kreme is open for business in Arkansas with the accompanying television coverage, traffic jams, and long lines outside the donut chain’s new location in Little Rock.

Even the governor’s wife, Janet Huckabee, was on hand for the official ribbon cutting at 5:30 in the morning, reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Richard Clements, a partner in the Arkansas Krispy Kreme franchisee, A-OK LLC, said he expected the 4,000-square-foot store would sell 80,000 donuts in its first day of business.

The Little Rock location is the first for Krispy Kreme in Arkansas with other locations planned, including one in Bentonville to open this summer. North Little Rock and Fort
Smith are the other communities identified for new store openings.

Moderator’s Comment: How does (and will) Krispy Kreme maintain its marketing mystique?

The cult of Krispy Kreme is alive and well in Little Rock, no doubt.

We still can’t help wondering when continued expansion will mean a new Krispy Kreme is simply just another donut shop opening up.

Gloria White, a customer of the new Little Rock Krispy Kreme, may have the answer. As far as she’s concerned Krispy Kreme is the “best doughnut ever made.”
