I think they need to be more aggressive with stores under 100,000 sq ft. It might take 5-10 years but this could be the final nail in coffin for companies like Roundys, Super Valu, Winn Dixie, Safeway, etc. If Walmart wants to bury them I think the small store...
At first I thought I was gong to read that these employees were going lose out on some big bucks. But only a $15k haircut is small change to a high volume store manager. The big con is putting a cap on the max. Some of my clients give...
In my opinion, these in-store clinics have come up short. Show up bleeding and need stitches, they send you to the emergency room. Show up with an enlarged prostate and they tell you to go to an urologist. Or an eye chalazia to be drained, they tell you to...
Maybe these clinics are changing. The last ones I saw did not accept insurance and were cash or credit card only. My doctor's office will now pretty much do what these in-store clinics will do at their price point. That's the free market at work.
Overall, the Affordable Care...
People who become irate and behave badly are more likely to be mentally ill and there is no reasoning with them. They might be bipolar and chemically imbalanced. Often this has nothing to do with the customer being "unhappy" but more to do with the customer being mentally unstable. ...
I don't think any of the competitors will be affected to a noticeable degree. Sounds like they are going after the "food desert" customer by offering candy bars, Pepsi, Red Bull and tobacco. A lot of that was being sold at the nearest c-store or drugstore.
...I like what Roger Saunders said about Rule of Law and Work Ethic. No unions and no taxes = no problem. There are lot of military bases in Texas and I noticed H-E-B hires a lot of retired military personnel. These people are usually still in their 40s and...
Wegmans should have no trouble downsizing a bit. As noted, 70,000 sq. ft. will still be larger than all those boring and dull chain grocers currently operating in the area. The only thing boring about Wegmans is they are predictable -- they win every time.
...I've spent a lot of time in H-E-B stores. I've counted about a 100 or more of them doing $1 million plus per week. H-E-B understands the Texas market, the Tex-Mex consumer, and they don't come across as greedy. Employees have a high level of morale and hold top...
I don't think this is a big opportunity or it would have been done a long time ago. It's kind of like lay-a-way; there is always going to be some need for it. As long as it doesn't take a big effort to implement, why not? It's just another...
